Toyota's Cover Up

Fred Anderson Toyota  (in Raleigh, North Carolina)

Beginning on Friday March 21, 2020 (the very next day after the incident happened) we began our attempt to get this matter resolved directly with Fred Anderson Toyota, Raleigh.   A few of our numerous attempts to get Fred Anderson Toyota to resolve this mess are outlined on this page:

Anderson Automotive Group  (in Raleigh, North Carolina)

We believed that FA would have brought our situation to the attention of their superiors at the Anderson Automotive Group.   When we asked for a meeting with the CEO of this group in early 2021, we were told that their organization was completely unaware of our concerns.   Instead of setting up the meeting we requested, they took two steps.   (1.)  They directed FA's General Manager Sean Mehafey to call us on the phone to address our concerns once and for all.   That phone call to us failed to address our concerns as to WHO at FA targeted My Owner and WHY she was targeted.   (2.) They initiated a series of phone calls and an email exchange with My Owner.   That series of communications was centered on their offer to return her money in exchange for her agreement to withdraw her complaints to the NC regulators.   Their email exchange is outlined on the page below:

Toyota Motor Sales  (in Plano, Texas)

Early on in our follow up process, we filed a consumer complaint with Toyota's Customer Experience Center (CEC)  in Plano, Texas.   Several telephone conversations with representatives initially led us to believe that they would help us get our complaint dealt with by Fred Anderson Toyota.   After a few calls, it became apparent that they were acting as a "tennis backboard" in that anything brought to their attention was bounced back to the dealership.   From all of our dealings with them, we have had no real help at all.   Our dealings with them are outlined below:

Southeast Toyota Distributors  (in Deerfield Beach, Florida)

It has been VERY difficult for us to find out anything about Southeast Toyota including even their existence.   FA never mentioned that they were assisted at times by a Southeast Toyota District Service and parts Manager (DSPM).   Toyota Motor Sales kept insisting that they had no supervisory or jurisdiction over Fred Anderson, but would never tell us about Southeast Toyota.   Only after considerable help from a former Toyota Service Director friend of ours did we get an insight into two "carve outs" that Toyota has established in the United States.   One is for several southern states covered by Southeast Toyota.   The other is Gulf States Toyota that covers a few additional southern states.   When we did finally reach someone there, we received absolutely ZERO help.   In fact we were asked multiple times "how did you get our number?".   At any rate we did get an email and copied Southeast Toyota on My Owner's rebuttal to FA's response to her NC AG complaint.   Pleas see discussion below.   Also please note that Ms. Schmitt clearly told us that FA's General Manager Sean Mehaffey has conducted an investigation.   The results of that investigation have not yet been provided to the NC AG's Office of Consumer Protection.
